Speaking Performance Skills: A Primer

January 22, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

What’s the one critical question you must answer before you utter your first word?  And once you do utter that first word, how can you capture the audience’s attention?  What is the value of “the hook” and how does it work?  How do you handle stage fright?  And how do you warm up your voice?  How do you manage the content of your speech and decide how much or how little core content to include?  How do you tell a story that lands with emotion and sincerity?

At our January meeting, we will explore the answers to these questions and demonstrate how the speech’s content and the speaker’s performance techniques are collaborating partners in every great speech.

This interactive session invites all participants to perform the first three minutes of any speech and receive feedback from team members as well as chapter members.  Material does not need to be memorized, but it must be rehearsed.
